# Make a phone call from an agent

Call is launching; this guide shows how an agent finds and pays the documented StablePhone listing with x402.

{% hint style="info" %}
Call is launching. The console does not serve Call yet; this page describes the launch flow.
{% endhint %}

This page is for agent owners who want an agent to find and pay the documented StablePhone listing through vAPI Call.

## What the caller needs

Provide these values to the agent:

| Value         | Requirement                                            |
| ------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| Destination   | A US or Canadian number in `+1` format                 |
| Task | What the voice agent should say and do during the call |
| Agent account | A linked local account funded with enough USDC on Base |

Fund the account before the run:

```bash
vapi fund --account <name>
```

StablePhone refuses numbers on the Do-Not-Call list.

## Find, inspect, and pay

Connect the local `vapi mcp` server to the agent. The agent uses these vAPI Call tools in order:

| Tool           | Agent action                                                                                 |
| -------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `call.search` | Search for `StablePhone` and select the partner listing returned by Call. |
| `call.inspect` | Read the `call_phone` request contract and live x402 quote.                                  |
| `call.pay` | Send the destination and task to the inspected listing, subject to the account's spend caps. |

If `call.search` does not return StablePhone, it is not available in Call's eligible listed results. Do not substitute an undocumented phone path.

The StablePhone request body has two fields: `phone_number` contains the `+1` destination, and `task` contains the voice agent's instructions. The listed endpoint is a `POST` request.

StablePhone's seeded price is $0.54 USDC on Base per call. The live x402 quote remains the source of truth. Payment settlement starts the call, and the response returns a `call_id`.

Only the paying wallet can read the transcript through StablePhone's status endpoint. The public sources do not specify that endpoint's URL or request shape.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.vapinetwork.ai/call/for-buyers-and-agents/make-a-phone-call.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
