# Router

Router is coming soon: vAPI Network plans OpenAI-compatible model access using a staking usage limit and purchased USDC balance.

{% hint style="info" %}
vAPI Router is coming soon. This page describes how it works at launch.
{% endhint %}

vAPI Network Router is coming soon. It is designed to provide one OpenAI-compatible endpoint for text, embeddings, speech, transcription, and images.

Use Router for text, embeddings, speech, transcription, and image generation. Connect through an OpenAI-compatible client, the vAPI client, MCP, or a linked agent.

**Status:** Coming soon. At launch, staking sets a daily Router usage limit, and Router balance is bought with USDC.

## The Router page in the console

Open `/router` in the vAPI console.

* Signed out, the page explains the three steps: stake vAPI, get a daily Router limit, and use models with an OpenAI-compatible SDK. It offers a **Stake vAPI** button and shows the **Models** and **Quickstart** tabs. The **Keys** tab asks you to sign in.
* Signed in, the page adds Your Router with the Router balance section and a How your limit works panel. It also adds the Keys and Usage tabs. Switching tabs keeps your place on the page.

## For agents

Install the client:

```bash
npm i -g vapi-network
```

Agents can use `router.models`, `router.usage`, and `router.chat` through MCP. Compute calls use both the owner's daily Compute limit and the agent's daily allowance. Balance calls spend the owner's shared purchased Router balance, outside those daily limits.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.vapinetwork.ai/router/readme.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
