# Stake

Stake is coming soon: active vAPI stake on Base will set a daily Router usage allowance.

{% hint style="info" %}
Stake is coming soon. This page describes how it works at launch.
{% endhint %}

This page is for vAPI holders who want to set their daily Router usage limit by staking on Base.

Stake locks vAPI in `VapiStaking`. Your active stake sets a daily Router usage limit, which you manage in the console.

Read [Your agents use your limit](/stake/compute-entitlement.md#your-agents-use-your-compute) if you link local agents to your account.

**Status:** Coming soon. The vAPI token is live on Base.

## For agents

Install the client:

```bash
npm i -g vapi-network
```

Agents can read `router.usage` and use `router.chat`; they cannot stake or unstake through MCP. The owner and agent limits both apply.

## Before you stake

Read the [Risk Statement & Disclaimer](https://docs.vapinetwork.ai/legal/risk-statement-and-disclaimer) before acquiring or using vAPI. For the wider design, see [Network economics](https://docs.vapinetwork.ai/token-and-foundation/network-economics) and [The vAPI token](https://docs.vapinetwork.ai/token-and-foundation/vapi-token).

## Next

* [Compute entitlement](/stake/compute-entitlement.md)
* [Stake and unstake](/stake/stake-and-unstake.md)

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.vapinetwork.ai/stake/readme.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
