# Reviewer eligibility

Stake is coming soon; the reviewer gate will compare active stake with a threshold that changes through a timelock.

{% hint style="info" %}
Stake is coming soon. This page describes how it works at launch.
{% endhint %}

The reviewer gate reads your active stake to determine eligibility. This page explains the threshold and the timelock for threshold changes.

## Eligibility rule

`ThresholdReviewersGate` checks the live `VapiStaking.stakedBalance(account)` value:

```solidity
stakedBalance(account) >= threshold
```

The initial threshold is `100,000 vAPI`. The gate accepts threshold values from `10,000 vAPI` through `1,000,000 vAPI`.

An unstake request reduces active stake immediately. A pending unstake therefore does not count toward the threshold.

## Register as a reviewer

Meet the stake threshold, then call this function on `ReviewerRegistryV2`:

```solidity
registerReviewer()
```

Registration is permissionless once your active stake meets the threshold.

Panel eligibility uses your active stake at selection time. If your active stake drops below the threshold, you keep your registered seat. New panel selections exclude you until your active stake meets the threshold again.

An unstake does not remove your vote on a panel selected before the unstake. Reviewers who vote receive payment from dispute-fee deposits when the panel resolves the dispute.

## Threshold changes

The Foundation multisig owns the gate. Only its owner can call `proposeThreshold(newThreshold)` and `executeThreshold()`.

After a valid proposal, the new threshold becomes executable after a 7-day timelock. The old threshold remains active until the owner executes the change.

The gate reads stake for eligibility. It does not move vAPI.

## Tasks status

[Tasks](https://docs.vapinetwork.ai/tasks) has not launched. Reviewer disputes do not run today. The threshold gate is the staking link for reviewer eligibility when the Tasks dispute system supports it.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.vapinetwork.ai/stake/reviewer-eligibility.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
